Whether you’d like to see your work in spas, shops, galleries or department stores, wholesale buyers are looking for smartly styled product presentations which answer all the essential questions about your body of work and how you do business. There are more than a dozen ways you can put your Buyer’s Packet to work to grow your empire. Are you calling my bluff? Very well then…
12 Ways A Line Sheet Can Build Your Business
1. Fancy new shop opens up down the street? Drop off a line sheet, a business card and a smile.
2. Hot shot buyer from one of your “dream stores” dashes off an email inquiring about your product collection? Hit ‘em right back with a line sheet so swanky that they’ll chomp at the bit to pick up your line.
3. Editor from a splashy magazine rings you up: they’re up against a tight deadline and need one more product to finish up a feature. They found your company via the web and think your products might fit the bill. Beam your line sheet over and score some delightful free press.
4. Building a branded website? Post your line sheets online- with or without password protection- and you’ll make wholesale ordering a snap. Bonus: the majority of the buyer’s questions will be answered with a quick peek at the line sheet, so you can spend more time in the workshop creating and less time tethered to your email and phone answering oft-repeated questions.
5. Planning to exhibit at a trade show? Guess which two documents are non-negotiable for those appearances? Line sheets + order forms.
6. Building a press kit to send off to bloggers, reports and editors you’d love to see feature your work? Line sheets elegantly summarize key product details and assist busy journalists in the task of collecting product + company information.
7. Itching to be accepted into that upmarket juried show? Line sheets show off your work and highlight your professionalism.
8. While you’re in that craft show booth, keep a stack of line sheets and order forms within reach. Wholesale buyers walk those shows, too.
9. Ready to bring on a sales rep or three? They’ll need professional line sheets to present to potential accounts and those snazzy order forms will harvest all of the necessary order details. Streamlining the process of order collection saves time and money while reducing the margin of error.
10. Yearning to score a deal that will showcase your product line in a permanent showroom? I’ll give you one guess about the types of paperwork the reps will need to see to make the decision.
11. Releasing a special seasonal collection? Tuck line sheets into outbound wholesale orders to give current buyers the 411 on new products.
12. Wish to reawaken a wholesale buyer who hasn’t placed a recent order? Mail off a line sheet + order form + handwritten note with a special incentive to reconnect with a key buyer.
I have a line sheet that I send out to new inquiries via email. I also send it out to current accounts seasonally. I’ve often wondered if that wasn’t a burden to the shop owner….I think it might be a bit more convenient for me to send them a hard copy so its on hand…they don’t have to look up an email. Like eye candy…they can sit at night, in front of the fire with a glass of wine and look through my beautiful selection. Thank you, this has been helpful.
